Case study · Keys Disease Charters
The right town, real prices and a way to book
Capt. Chris Harpster has booked almost 1,000 trips by phone and about 10 on his old site. Guests got lost there and called him, so now each trip has one price, a calendar and a Book now button.

“Communication was on point. The website looks phenomenal. I couldn't ask for anything better.”
Capt. Chris HarpsterOwner, Keys Disease Charters, Big Pine KeyGuests tried to book, then called
The trips and the reviews were there. The website was the one weak spot.
- Old site:
Booking felt like a store
The Booking / Rates page opened on All products, with a sort menu and a Cart. Guests got confused, found his number and called to say they'd tried to book.
- Old site:
Bookings came in silent
When a guest did book, Chris got no email and no alert. He had to go into the site and check. That's how he ended up with two trips at the same time.
- Old site:
A blank top on the home page
On a computer, the first thing under the logo was an empty white band. Then came one line and an About Us button. The page had no trips, no prices and no Book button.
- Old site:
Three sets of prices
The trip pages said $750, $950 and $1,150. Search results showed $600, $750 and $950. Chris's real rates are $750, $1,000 and $1,300.
- Old site:
Template text left in
The review bands still held sample lines and names from the website template. None of his 85 Google or 54 FishingBooker reviews were on the site.

Google had him in the wrong town
His old home page told Google he was in Marathon. His boat leaves from Big Pine Key. Now Google reads the right town.

Big Pine Key in every trip title
Old trip titles named no town at all. Now each reads like Half Day in Big Pine Key, FL. The line under the home page title says near Marathon, the next town up the road, so guests who know that name can place him.
Addresses that fit the trip
The old 6 hour trip lived at full-day-fishing-charter and the 8 hour at full-day-fishing-charter1. Now each address says which trip it is, like half-day-charter.
Price and dock in code for Google
Each trip page lists its price and where it leaves in code made for Google, called trip schema. The address, phone and map pin are in that code too.
Old links land in the right place
He kept his domain, so his Google listing still points to his site. Every old address now sends guests and Google to the new page. That's called a 301 redirect.
Phones were the slow part
Google's PageSpeed test scores a page out of 100, and guests book from their phones. The home page went from 77 to 99 on a phone, and its big picture now takes about 2 seconds. The old trip pages weighed up to 11.3 MB, since the photo slider loaded full-size phone photos. They now weigh about 1.2 MB, and the main picture shows in 2.4 to 3.3 seconds, down from 5.4 to 5.9.

A bit more than the job
Launch call changes
Three things came up on the launch call: a 20% deposit, a later Half Day start so he can run two trips in a day, and his FishingBooker rating next to Google's. All three were on the site that same day.
The name off his boat
The big Keys Disease on the home page is drawn after the lettering on his hull. It's his boat's look, not a font from a list.
Every fish named
Chris sent 33 photos as phone screenshots. We cropped them back to the photos, added the 21 that were new and checked each fish, so the site names the right species.
“From what I seen, I liked it. It was a hell of a lot better than the last one.”
